New Delhi: Senior lawyer and member of Team Anna Prashant Bhushan was today beaten up by two men inside his chamber in the Supreme Court for his comments on Jammu and Kashmir.
Two men, present in his chamber started slapping and kicking Mr Bhushan all of a sudden when he was talking to a news channel. One of the two attackers was arrested when lawyers present in the room intervened to save Mr Bhushan, while the other managed to escape. The arrested attacker, who claimed to be a volunteer of Sri Ram Sene, said Bhushan was talking about division of the country. Talking to reporters after the incident, Mr Bhushan said he had spoken in favour of referendum on Kashmir. A case with Delhi Police was registered by him. Mr Bhushan was taken to nearby Ram Manohar Lohia hospital for treatment, RTI activist and his aide Arwind Kejriwal told mediapersons. Mr Bhushan’s close associate and Team Anna’s other member Kiran Bedi expressed anguish over the incident. “I am very distressed to see what level of intolerance we have reached. It is a shameful act. They don’t know they are beating up such a reasonable man, who has worked for the community,” she said.
