POSHAN Abhiyaan awareness program conducted at Taisuru despite harsh weather

Kargil, April 19: As part of the nationwide POSHAN Abhiyaan campaign being observed from April 8 to 22, 2025, an awareness program was successfully organized at Dak Bungalow Taisuru in collaboration with ICDS Kargil (Taisuru Block) and KVK Kargil-II Zanskar at Dak Bungalow and Govt. Higher Secondary School, Taisuru despite harsh weather.

At Dak Bungalow, 56 dedicated ICDS workers participated in the program. A parallel awareness session was also conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Taisuru, where 68 school girls participated with keen interest, reflecting the growing awareness and importance of nutrition among young girls, the foundation of future generations.

Dr. Shabber Hussain, Subject Matter Specialist and Dr. Mohd Medi, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Kargil-II delivered insightful sessions focusing on smart nutritional practices and the benefits of locally available, nutrient-rich foods, especially relevant in the high-altitude, cold-climate context of Taisuru.

ICDS Supervisor, Marziya and In-Charge Principal of HSS Taisuru appreciated the efforts and emphasized the significance of spreading awareness among school girls, who represent the grassroots level of the community in need of such interventions.

The event is a part of ongoing ICAR mission to promote nutrition and health awareness under POSHAN Abhiyaan, particularly targeting vulnerable and tribal populations in remote areas.
