Srinagar: A police constable was injured critically after shot by suspected militants near Janglat Mandi area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district late Friday evening.
A senior Police official told GNS said that militants attacked police post Janglat Mandi, Anantnag resulting in severe injuries of a personal.
The injured cop who sustained bullet injury in neck was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital from where he was later removed to SMHS hospital here in Srinagar in critical condition, the official said. He identified the injured cop as Constable Abdul Rashid Tantaray (belt no. 1287/A) son of Abdul Salam Tantaray, a resident of Gundrahman, Tulmullah Ganderbal.
However, the gunmen according to reports decamped with the service rifle of the policeman.
Soon after the attack, SOG, Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and started search operation to nab the assailants.
