Baramullau July 31: As part of its efforts to enhance awareness and sensitivity among its personnel on crucial health and legal matters, J&K Police in collaboration with J&K AIDS control society organized an awareness-cum-training programme on HIV/AIDS and drug de-addiction at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla.
The programme witnessed the participation of 50 police personnel from different units across the district. The event was graced by DIG NKR Baramulla Shri Maqsood-ul-Zamaan-IPS, as the special guest, alongside other dignitaries including SSP Baramulla, Addl. SP Baramulla, SP Ops Baramulla. Expert resource persons from the J&K AIDS control society, Ms. Sabiha Iqbal assistant director, mainstreaming and Mr. Imtiyaz Khan assistant director, Lab services, delivered informative sessions on modes of HIV transmission, methods of prevention, legal rights of people living with HIV, and the responsibilities of law enforcement under the HIV Act 2017.
The speakers also discussed the role of police in promoting community awareness, reducing social stigma and collaborating with health and welfare departments for effective drug abuse prevention and rehabilitation. All dignitaries emphasized the importance of compassion, knowledge and inter-agency coordination in tackling such social and public health issues.
