Notwithstanding the controversy over alleged blasphemous remarks against revered Sufi Saints Khawaja Mohiddin Chasti ( R.A.) and Mir Syyed Ali Hamadani ( R.A.), a popular “scholar” Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Mir finds himself at the center of a legal storm as a complaint has been filed under the relevant laws by Kashmir’s prominent lawyer Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Dar.

Pertinently, the incident has sparked outrage and heated debates in Kashmir, raising questions about freedom of expression, religious tolerance, and the boundaries of discourse. The remarks in question allegedly targeted revered Sufi saint Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani who played an important role in spread of Islam, figures widely revered for their spiritual teachings and contributions to Islamic mysticism.

The complainant Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Dar has urged police to register a case against the accused under sections 295A, 153A, and other relevant provisions of the Indian penal code for hurting, outraging & insulting the religious sentiments/feelings of the members of public.

Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Dar said the legal complaint has been filed under blasphemy laws that aim to protect religious sentiments and sacred figures within the community. “The remarks in question allegedly targeted revered Sufi saints, figures widely venerated for their spiritual teachings and contributions to Islamic mysticism,” Advocate Aijaz added.

Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Dar further stated, “this video is not the first one but the accused before this has been involved in uploading on social media the similar kind of content & stuff, but much water has flown since then ,he should not be tolerated now to fiddle with the sanctity of religion and the law of land which govern, control ,protect and guarantees the right to religion enshrined and embodied under Articles 25-28 of the constitution of India.”
