Police Arrested Hurriyat Leader, Engineer Hilal War.

Srinagar, July 04(KMW): A heavy contingent of State Police headed by SHO, Police Station Maisuma raided the Residence of Hurriyat leader and People’s Political Party (PPP), Chairman, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War today early in the morning around 4:30 a.m. immediately after morning prayers and arrested the party Chairman Hilal Ahmed War. People’s Political Party took serious note of the arrest of their party chief and termed the arrest as illegal, unconstitutional and a barbaric act.

According to a statement issued to KMW, PPP Chief’s arrest is seen as a preventive measure by the Indian police against a possible protest on the arrival of Indian Prime Minister, Narender Modi. Mr. War, while endorsing Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s call had urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to observe complete shutdown on July 04, 2014 as a mark of protest on the arrival of Indian Prime Minister to the soil Jammu and Kashmir Nation which is disputed territory. Mr. War, while endorsing Hurriyat programme had urged the people to register a peaceful protest by observing complete shutdown and convey a strong message to Government of India that she cannot keep 1.4 million human beings hostage by military might one million Indian Army . A party spokesperson condemned his arrest in strong words saying it amounted to State oppression and a denial of right to expression.(KMW)
