Police Arrest Bootlegger In Sopore, Illicit Liquor Recovered

Sopore, June 28: As part of its ongoing efforts to curb the illegal liquor trade, Police arrested a bootlegger in Sopore and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.

A police party during naka checking at Takiya Panzalla intercepted a suspicious person. During search, five bottles of illicit liquor and eight tins of beer were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Babar Shamus Baba son of Shamas-ud-Din Baba resident of Chinkipora Sopore. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 44/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Panzalla and further investigation is underway to identify the source and broader supply chain.

Police reiterate its zero-tolerance policy towards illegal trade and narcotics. Let this serve as a clear warning those involved in such activities will face strict legal action. Police remains committed to dismantling unlawful networks and ensuring a safer, addiction-free society.
