Pashkum, November 21: PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School Pashkum celebrated its Annual Day with enthusiasm and splendour today, marked by the formal launch of the school magazine The Naran – The Soul of Pashkum.

The event was graced by Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Haji Haneefa Jan as Chief Gues; Executive Councillor, Education, Zakir Hussain; Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd. Feroz; Councillor Abdul Wahid; Chief Education Officer, Sonam Angchok; Principal, DIET Kargil, S. D. Namgail; President, Al-Hilal Pashkum, Al-Muntazir Pashkum , Deputy Chief Education Sankoo, Principals of different schools, ZEO Shargole, Headmasters of different school, parents and students.

The celebration commenced with the formal inauguration and visit to several exhibitions including ethnic food stalls, science models, and an astronomical laboratory display, all prepared by students. The main function was held in the Multipurpose Hall.

In his welcome address, Principal Ishey Namgail conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all guests, particularly the Chief Guest Haneefa Jan, for their august presence and support.

A significant highlight of the day was the official launch of the school magazine, ‘The NARAN’ – The Soul of Pashkum, which reflects the academic excellence, artistic creativity, and co-curricular spirit of the institution.The cultural performances by students showcased traditional dances, songs, and a skit on the importance of girl education and higher studies.

Hon’ble MP, Mohd Hanifa Jan praised the principal, staff, and students for organizing an impressive programme and commended the talents of the students.

Executive Councillor Shri Zakir Hussain assured full support from LAHDC Kargil toward enhancing school infrastructure and encouraged parents to cooperate during the upcoming winter remedial classes.

Executive Councillor Kacho Mohd Feroz expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and appreciated the sanctioning of a CBSE-standard school building worth ₹6 crore 22 lakh. He congratulated the principal and staff on the publication of the school magazine, emphasising its role in nurturing creativity.

Appreciations and certificates were also presented to bright students, best performers, outstanding teachers, and dedicated supporting staff by the Guest of Honour, Executive Councillor Zakir Hussain, and other dignitaries.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Khadim Hussain, Lecturer in Geography, expressing gratitude to all guests, teachers, parents, and students for contributing to the success of the Annual Day celebration.
