Jagti (Jammu): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today dedicated the 4218-flat Jagti Township on the outskirts of the city to Kashmiri migrants.
Singh handed over keys of the flats to 12 families of Kashmiri migrants to mark inauguration of the township at a function held at Jagti (Nagrota), 20 kms from here.
Flanked by the Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Prime Minister exchanged greetings with the families in the presence of over 200 migrants including Kashmiri Pandit leadership, who welcomed the move.
“We welcome the move of the Prime Mininister in providing better accomodation to the displaced community members. We thank him”, All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) General Secretary Arun Kandroo told reporters here.
Kandroo said Singh has kept his promise and facilitated the completion of the project.
