Srinagar, April 18: People of Jammu and Kashmir want proper attention towards both Covid and non Covid health care in Premier Government Hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir. In this regard the burning demand of people of Jammu and Kashmir is that there should be both dedicated Covid and non Covid Hospitals .
In this relation SKIMS Medical College Bemina or also known as JVC Hospital is equidistant for both North , South and Central Kashmir regions should be kept for all the Non-Covid healthcare is a burning demand .
In a recent setback to the non – Covid health care needs of the people Jammu and Kashmir”s premier tertiary care hospital, Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS), shut down its out-patient department (OPD) services in the wake of the spike in COVID-19 cases in the union territory.
In an order, the hospital administration said the decision has been taken in view of the surge in the cases and in order to cater to the rush of COVID-19 patients/suspected cases.
“All routine OPDs/ elective surgeries shall be stopped till further orders and only surgeries of emergency nature, malignancies, thesis related cases and other referral cases shall be entertained,” the order said.
JVC authorities are stating that they are mostly concentrating on Non Covid health care. They affirm that out of 232 beds they are going to keep all the exclusive for non covid and the additional 30 to 35 beds for Coronavirus will be created soon. Currently there are five to six beds for Covid out of which one patient currently admitted for Coronavirus .
Nazir Ahmad, a commoner stated :” We know that second wave of Coronavirus pandemic is brutal and we are seeing hellish situation in different parts of the country. There should be in our Jammu and Kashmir dedicated hospitals to tackle pandemic Coronavirus effectively but yes the non Covid health care should not suffer as there are other scores of diseases as well to cater . There should be dedicated hospitals in Govt sector for both Covid and non Covid health care needs of the masses .”
