Islamabad: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani today said public opinion in Pakistan and India is “building up to pursue peaceful means for the resolution of all issues, including the Kashmir problem”.
Gilani made the remarks during a meeting here with Raja Zulqarnain Khan, the ‘president’ of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
He said he had discussed “all issues, including Kashmir” with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi during his meeting with them at Mohali last month.
The premier, who visited Mohali at the invitation of Singh to watch the cricket World cup semi-final between India and Pakistan, described his meeting with the Indian political leadership as “fruitful”.
The resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people “could help efforts for peace and economic prosperity” in South Asia, he said.
