PDP worker shot dead, Two Security Guards injured in militant attack in Pulwama

Pulwama, Apr 25(KMW): Suspected militants shot dead the ruling PDP District youth President in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday afternoon.

Reports said that the gunmen appeared before the Scorpio (JK01M-0099) of PDP leader Ghulam Nabi Patel at Rajpora targeted him. A bullet hit the mouth of the Patel while two of his security guards also suffered injuries.

Reports added that Patel died on spot while his two security guards suffered injuries and were shifted to hospital for advanced treatment.

A police official while confirming the attack said that a hunt was launched to trace the assailants.

Hospital sources said that both security guards suffered bullet injuries. Imtiyaz Ahmed has received a bullet in chest while another security guard Bilal Ahmed has leg injury and out of danger.

Patel a resident of Dangerpora Shadimarg was Congress District Secretary Pulwama who joined PDP in 2014 and played a key role in the victory of former Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu. He according to reports was right hand of Haseeb Drabu.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti while condemning the attack termed it as an act of cowardice. “Heartfelt condolences to the family of senior Congress leader, G. N. Patel who was killed by militants today in Rajpora. Such cowardly acts achieve nothing but leave one more family devastated,” she tweeted.
