Srinagar: Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram Tuesday reviewed overall security scenario and arrangements for upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra (Hindu pilgrimage) in separate meeting with higher ups of state administration in Kashmir Valley.An official handout here said that the Minister for Home P. Chidambaram along with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reviewed the present law and order and security situation in the State at a high level meeting at SKICC here.During the meeting, the arrangements put in place by the State Government for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra were also taken stock of in detail. “Matters pertaining to the smooth conduct and completion of Panchayat elections in the State also came up in the deliberations.The Home Minister congratulated the Chief Minister and his Government for the smooth, peaceful, free and fair Panchayats elections in the State.â€The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani,  Chief Secretary, Madav  Lal, Director General Police, Kuldeep Khoda, Principal  Secretary Home, B. R. Sharma,  Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas , ADGP Law and Order, K. Rajindra, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Asgar Samoom, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pawan Kotwal, Inspector General  Police, Kashmir, Inspector General  Police, Jammu, Inspector General  Police, CID Kashmir, Joint Director SIB J&K, Commission SBNS, ADG BSF, Additional Commissioner SB(K), IG CRPF (K), IG BSF (K), IG, CRPF Jammu, Additional DG BSF  and OSD to Union Home.  Later, the home minister flew to Pahalgam in the afternoon where he reviewed security situation in the South Kashmir with SSPs and Deputy Commissioners of the districts. Pahalgam serves as the base camp for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage.
