ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday accepted the resignation tendered by the beleaguered Hussain Haqqani as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the KMW News reported.
According to Presidential spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, the Prime Minister asked Hussain Haqqani to resign with a view to ensure a transparent inquiry into the grave issue of the Mike Mullen memo.
“The demand for resignation was meant to ensure a transparent investigation into the memo,” he said, adding that after the resignation a high-level inquiry would be launched into the matter.
The spokesman further said that all the persons linked with the memo issue would be given a fair chance to explain their position.
