Islamabad, Aug 31 Imran Khan, former Prime Minister and founding chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), has stated that the country is at risk of parochialism due to political instability and terrorism, which have brought the economy to the brink of collapse, Dawn reported.
Khan expressed concern that the country was facing an impending threat of parochialism and stated that people in Balochistan have protested against terrorism.
He stated that the PTI had been accused of the recent wave of terrorism, but the government later claimed that terrorists had crossed the border, according to reports.
Khan claimed that as a federal party, the PTI could address this serious crisis while all other political parties were bound to their provinces.
The ex-premier expressed these views on Friday after attending court proceedings in the NAB reference involving a Bvlgari jewellery set that he and his spouse reportedly kept as presents from Toshakhana at a throwaway price.
He said political parties can unite the country, but it was ironic that the PTI, the only party with a nationwide presence, was “being weakened.”
He claimed that people responsible for such actions were unconcerned about the threats to the country. .
According to Imran, no one can invest while the country is plagued by terrorism.
He described the country’s poor economy as its “biggest challenge.” However, he said that spy agencies were targeting only one political party.
He cited the February 8 ‘rigged’ election as the source of political instability. He stated that there was no tolerance for individuals who abandoned the PTI during a time of need. However, those who remained loyal to the party will be rewarded, he stressed.
