Amritsar: The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) has arrested a person, who was allegedly spying for Pakistani agencies and recovered photographs of restricted areas, restricted Army manuals and a hand-made sketch of military installations from him.
Lovedeep Singh, working as clerk in ECS department of Army cantonment, Faridkot, was arrested on the basis of specific information by a special team of SSOC from the Canal bridge, Faridkot Bypass.
An FIR under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 9 of the Official Secrets Act, 120-B IPC was registered against him today.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Lovedeep was engaged by a Pakistani official of ISI agency about 18 months back.
He was providing them with information about movement of army units in Faridkot, Ferozepur and Fazilka sectors, and on construction of new bunkers on Indian side of the border.
He was also providing photographs of army vehicles with their formation signs, information about army exercises and trainings and about any new activity in these sectors, an SSOC release said.
Further investigations were in progress, the release added.
