Pak Rangers violate ceasefire in Poonch: Army

Srinagar: Army on Friday accused Pakistan Rangers of violating ceasefire along the line of control (LoC) in Krishna Gati (KG) sector of Mendhar in Poonch district.
Official sources said that the Pakistan Army opened heavy fire with RPG and machine guns at the Kranti Post, Ravi Post and Kripan post along the line of control (LoC) in KG sector of Mendhar around 7:30 last evening. Army’s 17 Mahar deployed along the LoC, officials said retaliated to the ‘unprovoked’ firing by the Pakistan Rangers.
The exchange of fire lasted for over 5 minutes. However, no one was injured in the exchange of fire.
“Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire agreement by attacking our forward posts in Krishna Gati sector of the district last evening. They opened fire with RPG’s and machine guns at our positions without any reason,” Army’s 16 Core spokesmen, Imraan Mousvi told PBI correspondent.
“Our men returned the fire. The exchange of gunfire continued for 5 minutes,” he added.
Meanwhile, an Army man was injured in a landmine explosion it the district this morning.
Official sources said that Naik Satbir Singh of Army’s 17 Mahar was injured when he stepped over a landmine near gunhill post in Nangi Tekri area along the LoC this morning. The injured trooper with injuries in left leg was rushed to 425 Military hospital.
