Kolkata, Mar 18: Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit today called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat and invited her tovisit Pakistan. \”My visit to the West Bengal chief minister is a courtesy call since I for first time visiting Kolkata, \” the Pakistan diplomat told reporters after emerging out from the CMchamber at Nabanna. \”I also invited her to visit Pakistan,\” Mr Basit said, adding the date was yet to be fixed by her. Mr Basit also stressed for cordial relations between his country and India. Earlier in the day, Mr Basit during an address in the seminar of Merchant Chamber of Commerce (MCC) underlined the need for cordial relationship between India and Pakistan saying the two nations will be benefited. Speaking on ‘Enhancing Indo-Pak Trade and Economic Co-Operation’ Mr Basit advocated resumption of bilateral dialogue to sort out the differences between the twoneighbouring countries. Owing to some geographical and historical reasons the relations between India and Pakistan has been stressful. He believed that wars in 1965, 1971 and latest Kargilconflict left the two nations at different position affecting cordial relations and suffering trade and businesses.
