Srinagar: About 1500 yatris today left for the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir, where so far over six lakh pilgrims had darshan of the self made ice Shivlingam since the commencement of the yatra on June 25.
A Met department spokesman said the ky will remain cloudy and there could be rain or thundershowers during the next 24 hours on both Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam tracks.
A yatra official said despite rain and cold, 645 pilgrims left Baltal base camp this morning for the cave shrine.
He said 842 yatris, including women, children and sadhus, left Nunwan Pahalgam for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route.
He said those yatris, who had night stay at different halting stations enroute, also started their onward journey while those who had darshan also started their return journey.
Majority of those who had darshan of the self-made ice Shivlingam have returned to their homes.
