Srinagar: One of the founder member of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) Mohammad Ahsan Dar was released after about four years following court orders.
Dar, who was also Chief Commander of HM, before he parted ways with the outfit and formed a separate militant outfit Muslim Mujahideen (MM) in late 1992.
He was arrested on January 4, 2009 at Sumbal in Bandipora district of North Kashmir after his return from Pakistan-administered-Kashmir (PaK) .
He was charged for coordinating between different militant outfits, including HM, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) in the north Kashmir, official sources said.
Dar was detained in Delhi’s Tihar, Udhampur, Jammu, Baramulla and Srinagar jails during his four year detention.
However, he was released from Central Jail, Srinagar yesterday following orders by the court, sources said.
Dar was arrested in 1993 and released in 1999 after six years of detention.
Dar had crossed over to Pakistan-administered-Kashmir (PaK) in 1984 and returned back here before again ex-filtrating in 1988.
