Omar meets Smt. Sonia Gandhi

NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on completion of three years in office called on the UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi here today and thanked her for the support extended by the UPA to the coalition Government in the State.

He presented her a compendium of achievements highlighting the performance of the state Government in the presence of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister of New & Renewable Energy, Shri Tara Chand, Deputy Chief Minister J&K, Shri Mohan Parkash, General Secretary AICC and Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz, President JKPCC.
Omar Abdullah briefed Smt. Sonia Gandhi about the various challenges his government faced in the last three years and as to how a new growth story for peace, progress and prosperity of the state was written.
The Chief Minister also apprised the UPA Chairperson about the measures taken by his Government to empower the people of the state and provide them credible, transparent, effective and people friendly governance.
Omar informed the UPA Chairperson about the successful conduct of the Panchayat elections and the Government’s resolve to hold the elections to Urban Local Bodies before the middle of this year.
The Chief Minister sought the continued support and guidance of the UPA Chairperson for the betterment of the state and the welfare of its people. On his part he assured her that the state Government will put in all untiring efforts to realize the dream of the National Conference and the Congress for a better and vibrant Jammu and Kashmir.(KMW News)
