Off-Road Snow Fest held at Gulmarg: Kashmir has immense potential in adventure tourism: Mahmood Shah

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 23: First of its kind, two-day off-road snow fete concluded at famous ski-resort of Gulmarg after witnessing enthusiastic participation.
The event aimed to promote adventure tourism and other off-road activities was held as a part of snow adventure tourism by Kashmir Off Road in collaboration with Tourism Department from January 21-22, 2017.
The off-road snow festival saw competing drivers race against time on a specially prepared 2km long snow track. Over 35 all terrain vehicles took part in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood Ahmad Shah said that adventure tourism has immense potential in the Kashmir.
He said the Department has organized many adventure tourism activities including newly introduced sports of Roadsnow Fete. He said Raid-De-Himalaya is a regular feature which happens in the State but this being the maiden snow based event has attracted a lot of attention.
He said the Department is vigorously promoting the Gulmarg and Pahalgam as prime winter destinations in Kashmir.
“Gulmarg is known for adventure activities like skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating. The Department has kicked-off tourism promotional campaigns across the country where besides promoting other destinations, we are highlighting these events to attract tourists,” he added.
The Director also distributed prizes among participants and top performers of the event.
Speaking about the event founder of Kashmir Off-Road Ali Sajid said the idea of organizing this event has been to promote Off-Road Snow driving on a competition level.
