Notification for Presidential Poll issued

New Delhi: The Election Commission today issued the notification for the presidential election scheduled for July 19.
The last date for filing nominations is June 30, while candidates can withdraw their nominations by July 4.
The UPA yesterday announced Pranab Mukherjee as their presidential nominee.
The BJP core group is meeting this evening to discuss their candidate for the top constitutional slot.
Votes will be counted, if needed, on July 22.
The term of office of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will come to an end on July 24.
Nominations will be scrutinised on July 2 and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is July 4.
The Secretary General to the Rajya Sabha Dr V K Agnihotri has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the election.
The President is elected by the members of the Electoral College consisting of elected members of both Houses of Parliament and elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of all States, including National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
