Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ today submitted his resignation to Governor Margaret Alva while the meeting of state BJP legislature party unanimously chose Gen (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri as the sixth Chief Minister of the state to replace him.
Ms Alva has accepted his resignation and asked to continue on the post till the new Chief Minister takes oath.
Dr Pokhriyal, along with his senior ministers — Tourism Minister Madan Kaushik, Education Minister Khajan Das, Forest and Environment Minister G S Bisht, Transport Minister B S Bhagat and State Women Commission vice-chairperson Gita Thakur — reached the Raj Bhavan this afternoon and submitted their resignations.
