NHPC asks people to restrict movement near Chenab river in Doda, Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: As per an order issued here today by NHPC, the people of Doda and Kishtwar districts particularly of Dul, Benzwar, Cheahar, Bhandarkot, Harti, Kandni, Thathri, Prem Nagar and Pul Doda have been advised to restrict their movement near the banks of Chenab river from 17th of August (22.00 hours) to 18th of August, 2012 (20.00 hours) to avoid any mishap.

The people of these areas have been asked to take care of their movement along the river bank in view of statutory periodical silt flushing from the reservoir of Dulhasti Power Station due to which the gates of the dam shall be opened from 17thof August (22.00 hours) to 18th of August, 2012 (20.00 hours). With the result there will be increase in flow of water and level of river Chenab may increase from 2 to 3 meters.
