Neelum-Jhelum project to become functional in April 2018

Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project will become fully operational in April next year.

This was stated by Chairman WAPDA Muzzamal Hussain during a meeting with AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan in Islamabad on Saturday.

Chairman WAPDA said first unit of the project will start production of electricity by February next year.

He said eighty percent work on the transmission line of Neelum Jhelum Project has been completed.

On this occasion, AJK President said that India is violating Indus Water Treaty and threatening to divert the flow of the rivers.

He underlined the need of building big water reservoirs to meet the water scarcity in the country.
