Jammu: BJP today alleged that both ruling National Conference and its coalition partner Congress has failed to address the grievances of the people of the state.

Addressing a joint press conference here this afternoon, the BJP legislators criticised the government policies and said the issues of concern raised by the party were not addressed during the recent session of State Legislature which concluded on April 4.

“Issues related to all the three regions – Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were raised through questions, bills and resolutions but it was unfortunate that every such question which sought government’s intervention like for example granting citizenship rights to the West Pakistan refugees, proper rehabilitation and compensation to PoK refugees and those of 1965 and 1971, were disallowed without assigning any logical reason,” BJP MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma said.

He added that same was the fate of bill seeking grant of ownership rights to the tenants of Evacuees Property in Jammu province and disbanding of Custodian Department adding that implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments of the Indiana constitution were also ignored by the government.

Senior leader and MLA East Ashok Khajuria said it became crystal clear that NC-Congress coalition has no time for the people with nationalist mindsets.

Total refusal on part of the government during the session to settle the decades-long claims of PoK refugees speaks volumes of coalition government’s lack of concern for the suffering masses, he said.

Meanwhile MLAs Sukhnandan Kumar and Sham Choudhary said the issues related to the farmers including desilting of canals, shortage of seeds, fertilisers, sub-standards fertlizers were also neglected by the present regime during the Assembly session.
