Madrid, June 27 NATO leaders will label Russia as “the most significant threat to collective security” in a new strategic concept for 10 years, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday.
“Our new concept will guide us in an era of strategic completion. I expect it will make clear that allies consider Russia as the most significant and direct threat to our security,” Stoltenberg said at a press conference before the beginning of the summit in Madrid.
At the same time, recognition of Russia as a threat to NATO security does not mean renunciation of contacts with Moscow, though a full-fledged dialogue is impossible, the chief of the alliance added.
