MP Ladakh chairs meeting of DISHA to review progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Kargil

Kargil, April 28: Member of Parliament Ladakh, Mohammad Haneefa Jan, today chaired the First Quarter (2025-26) meeting of District Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) to review progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes at Conference Hall, Kargil.

Executive Councilor, Social Welfare, LAHDC, Kargil, Aga Syeed Mujtaba Mussavi, Executive Councilor, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, LAHDC, Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi, besides members of the committee including Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, Councilors of LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan, Nasir Hussain Munshi, Director, School Education Ladakh, Tsering Paldan, ACR Kargil, ACD Kargil, CPO Kargil, CMO Kargil, heads of various departments, agencies, stakeholders, NGOs, and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

The MP took a detailed review of the progress achieved so far under Beneficiary-Oriented Centrally Sponsored Schemes, including Central Road Fund (CRF), Samagra Shiksha, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), MGNEREGA, SBM, PMAY-Urban and Rural, NHM, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Status of JJM, and other schemes.

During the review meeting, MP Ladakh instructed HODs to share work lists under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) with all DISHA Committee members. He stressed for maximum utilization of funds to prevent lapses. He also sought updated physical and financial progress reports for each programme and scheme.

During the meeting, the updates and challenges faced in Samagra Shiksha scheme in Kargil district were thoroughly discussed.

During the meeting, the shortage of Hindi and Urdu teachers and possible solutions were discussed. The MP suggested introducing Arabic, besides the Bhoti and Urdu, under the three-language formula (NEP), in schools. He also stressed the timely academic engagement of teachers without delay.

The meeting discussed ways to improve the quality of education, with members putting forth various suggestions for better outcomes.

During the meeting, the CMO Kargil credited the NHM scheme for reducing the district’s infant mortality rate to a single digit.

The MP directed the CMO Kargil to take necessary measures for reducing the caesarean section rates in the district.

During the meeting, the MP also directed the Chief Agriculture Officer to ensure the early implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

During the meeting, the Executive Engineer PHE Kargil informed that 95 percent saturation under JJM has been achieved and assured that 100 percent saturation will be completed by the end of September 2025.

The MP also inquired about Central Road Fund (CRF), MGNREGA, PMAY, PM Surya, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, newly sanctioned roads under PMGSY, etc. and directed concerned officials to ensure maximum benefits for the beneficiaries.

MP Ladakh underlined the importance of the DISHA meeting for effectively redressing people’s grievances and issues of the concerned departments. He stressed officers to ensure completion of various centrally sponsored projects and schemes within the stipulated timelines and to avoid delays.

All the sectoral heads of the respective departments were asked to hold awareness camps at various villages in coordination with the DISHA Committee members so that people get benefit of the centrally sponsored schemes.

The MP emphasized the concerned officials to follow the directions outlined in the meeting in letter and spirit, ensuring effective implementation of decisions for the benefit of public.

Earlier, Chief Planning Officer, Kargil, in the presence of MP Mohammad Haneefa Jan gave a presentation on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and their achievements.
