Mixed response to VHP’s Jammu bandh call

Jammu: The winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir today witnessed mixed response to one-day call for Jammu bandh by the saffron party Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in protest against police lathicharge in Rajouri on March 15.

The shops remained partially closed while the vehicles including mini buses were also seen plying on the road.

Police on March 15 resorted to lathicharge on hundreds of people of minority community, who were offering court arrest demanding arrest of culprits pelted stones at a religious procession on the eve of Holi festival.

The City of Temples observed partial shutdown while the schools and the offices witnessed thin attendances.

Despite bandh, the examinations of various institutions were also not postponed.

However, reports from other districts said the Jammu Province gave mixed response to the bandh call.

Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made to avoid any untoward incident during the shutdown. (KMW NEWS)
