Srinagar, (KMW News): Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest by the authorities at his Nageena residence so as to restrict him from leading the rally at Jamia Masjid to commemorate the 49th foundation day of the Awami Action Committee.

While addressing a gathering on telephone, Mirwaiz said nobody can put restrictions on aspirations, emotions, and thinking of Kashmiris. He said that that the supreme cause for which Kashmiri people, leadership, Shaheed-e-Millat and Mahajr-e-Millat offered their lives would be taken forward till it reaches its logical conclusion.
Mirwaiz while condemning the continuous house detention of Syed Ali Geelani, termed the continuous house arrest of the pro-resistance leadership and restrictions on their political and religious activities as dictatorial. He said such tyrannical steps won’t deter the pro-resistant leadership from pursuing for the cause.
APHC Chairman has appealed people to observe complete strike on the eve of Indian Prime minister Manmohan Singh visit to Kashmir on June 25. He said the Kashmiris were forced to observe shutdown and protests since India is not sincere in initiating any political process to address the Kashmir issue and instead was looking at kashmir issue only through the prism of security and economics.
He said if Indian Prime Minister comes to Kashmir with a constructive political approach and implements the suggestions put forth by the APHC in connection with the resolution of K issue, then this visit undertaken by him could have proven to be beneficial. However, he said that it was highly unfortunate that India has never considered the ground realities persisting in Jammu and Kashmir and treated this issue as a simple problem of administration and economics.
He said the sensitivity and reality of Kashmir issue can’t be changed by granting economic grants and bringing in rail services. He stressed that Kashmir issue would remain there till the pledges made by the Indian leadership are not fulfilled.
Mirwaiz said that any solution to Kashmir can be found through trilateral negotiations between India Pakistan and Kashmiris.
Later, people took out a rally to protest the house arrest of Mirwaiz. They also hold a rally before the Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar. The leaders in the gathering denounced the detention of APHC Chairman and for putting restrictions on his religious, social and political activities.
