Srinagar: Appealing people to march towards Naqshband sahib here on July 13, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said the mission of 1931 martyrs was yet to be taken to its logical end.Addressing a Friday gathering at Jamia Masjid here, Mirwaiz said martyrs of 13 July, 1931 had laid the foundation of freedom struggle by sacrificing their lives. He said a peaceful procession will be taken out on the day from Jamia Masjid which would culminate at the Naqshband sahib shrine, where “collective tributes” will be paid to the martyrs. “It is because of the sacrifices rendered by Kashmiris since 1931 that the international community today realizes the urgency of resolving the Kashmir issue,” he said.In an apparent dig at the ruling National Conference, Mirwaiz said the “mission” of 13 July 1931 martyrs was yet to be completed. . “There are certain elements who claim that the purpose of the sacrifices of these martyrs was fulfilled. Although these elements succeeded in getting power, for the ordinary Kashmiris it was the beginning of another period of oppression and slavery,” he said.Mirwaiz also announced special fund raising in Jamia Masjid next Friday for the rehabilitation of Nowhatta fire victims.  “I appeal people particularly well-off people to come forward and help these families,” he said.More than a dozen houses were completely gutted, and 22 families rendered homeless, in a devastating fire that engulfed the locality last Sunday.
