Tapper (Pattan): Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir Monday called upon all the shades of opinion to re-strategies their policies for securing the future of young generation as the two decades turmoil gave us death and destruction.
The Minister was addressing a large public gathering at Tapper, Pattan this afternoon. He said that still in 21st century, ‘we are crying for our basic amenities in our areas’ and adding that if the separatists had not chosen the path of violence for achieving their goals, the J&K would have far ahead with regard to development, education, health and other social sectors from other states of the country. He said that uncertainty has marred our progress and said that present coalition government is making all efforts to cover this gap by initiating mega projects in all sectors.
The Minister appealed them to come forward and choose the path of prosperity for the sake of our future generation. He said that youth of the state has enormous potential but due to uncertainty they could not prove their worth. He said that “if we could not provide them a space for their nourishment, the time couldn’t forgive usâ€.
Hailing the efforts of central government for rebuilding the infrastructure in J&K, the Minister said that with the liberal funding from the Centre government, the state is marching towards progress new hights in the fields of education, health, road communication, power, PHE and irrigation facilities and other sectors. He asked the people to cooperate with the government in bringing peace in the state and said that peace is pivotal for prosperity.
Asking the youth to prepare themselves for future responsibility, Mr. Mir asked them to attain knowledge in every sphere of life so that we are able to compete at national and international levels. He said dedication and zeal could help us to achieve the target and assured them that government is at forefront to provide every assistance to youth of the state for securing their future.
Referring the demands of the people, the Minister directed Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla to formulate a comprehensive project for Water Supply Scheme (WSS) and road connectivity facilities to the people of these areas. He directed that all the link roads of this belt shall be upgraded and macadamized within the period of two years. He also directed to take steps for up-gradation of two play fields of the area to facilitate the youth for sports activities for which funds would be arranged. For maintenance of tube well at Bosche, he said that funds have already been released to concerned department and the work on the project would be started soon, he added
For providing irrigation facilities to the Karewas of the area, the Minister asked the farmers to take the benefits of the scheme launched by the Agriculture and Horticulture departments for construction of bore-wells, water harvesting tanks, dug-wells for which subsidy is being provided.
