New Delhi, 29 November: The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, successfully convened the Vision for Sujalam Bharat Summit 2025 on 28–29 November at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event marked a major national step toward establishing a unified and actionable framework for long-term water security across the country.

The Summit brought together nearly 250 participants, including representatives from Central Ministries, State and Union Territory departments, technical experts, Panchayati Raj institutions, NGOs, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), community organisations, and awardees of the National Water Awards and the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Awards.

The Summit was inaugurated by Shri C. R. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Jal Shakti, in the presence of Shri Raj Bhushan Choudhary and Shri V. Somanna, Ministers of State for Jal Shakti.

The Union Territory of Ladakh was represented by Sh. Rahul Sharma, Secretary, PHE & FC Department

Sh. Mohd Abbass, Chief Engineer, PHE, I&FC Department; Sh. Kacho Mumtaz Ali Khan, Executive Engineer, PHE Division Leh; Sh. Murtaza Hyder Ali, Executive Engineer, I&FC Division Leh.

Ladakh was assigned the theme “Technology Efficient Water Management”, under which two significant innovations were presented:

Bridging Seasonal Water Scarcity with Intelligent Storage using Automated Ice Reservoirs – Presented by Sh. Murtaza Hyder Ali, Executive Engineer, I&FC Division, Leh

Drinking Water Rationing using the DRIP System – Presented by Sh. Kacho Mumtaz Ali Khan, Executive Engineer, PHE Division, Leh.

These initiatives were widely appreciated by dignitaries, including the Minister for Jal Shakti and senior officials from the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS) and Department of Water Resources (DoWR).

The two-day summit featured focused discussions and presentations covering:

Rejuvenation of rivers and springs

Sustainability of drinking water systems

Water conservation and recharge strategies

Greywater management and reuse

Community and institutional engagement for behavioural change

The Summit concluded with a comprehensive presentation of final recommendations and an action plan by Sh. V. L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, DoWR, RD & GR.
