Srinagar: Militants attacked a police post with automatic weapons while security forces busted a hideout and recovered arms and ammunition in the Kashmir valley, a police spokesman said here this afternoon.
He said militants fired upon a police post at Warpora in apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir, police personnel also retaliated but the militants managed to escape, he said adding no one was injured.
A massive hunt has been launched to nab the attackers.
Following a tip-off about the militant hideout police and 28 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation at Khangoor Nar Doorosa, in frontier district of Kupwara last evening.
After a massive search security forces unearthed a hideout and recovered arms, ammunition and explosive material.
Details about the recovery are awaited.
