Militant killed in ongoing encounter in Handwara

Srinagar, June 24 : A militant has been killed in an encounter that is underway in Handwara, Security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police.

A joint team of 21 Rashtriya Rifles and Handwara Police are engaged in a fierce gunbattle since last night with a group of militants hidden in the area.

On specific information about presence of militants, the security forces cordoned the area.

When they were searching houses, the militants opened fire and one was killed in the firing that ensured.  News agency Inputs
