Srinagar: An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with joint team of police and Army in Gander bal district of central Kashmir, official sources told Press Bureau of India on Wednesday. They said the police and 24 Rastriya Rifles launched the joint operation in Satharuna Jungle area of Kangan following specific information. “One militant was killed so far while operation was still going on in the area,†the officials said. The officials also claimed recovery of a Ak-47 rifle, some ammunition and Rs 2000 from the possession of the slain militant. Later, reports said, police handed over the body for last rites. The unidentified militant, believed to be Pakistani, was laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans, the reports added.
