In a statement to KMW, the department warned of landslides and flash floods in several parts of Kashmir valley, especially around the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
The MeT said that two Western Disturbances in quick succession are likely to affect the hilly state and adjoining areas from today evening until April 4.
“Under the influence of these weather systems, moderate to heavy rain/snow (on hilly areas) will occur at most places in Kashmir & Jammu region and at a few places in Ladakh region. Isolated places in Jammu & Kashmir region may receive heavy rain/snow and mainly on March 29th and April 3rd,” it said.
As such, the department said, farmers should avoid spraying of orchards and drain out excess water from the fields during these periods.
“These weather conditions has the potential to trigger landslide and flash flood in vulnerable areas of the state like Srinagar-Jammu Highway,” it added.
