MeT predicts mainly dry weather till April 4

Srinagar, March 31: The meteorological department (MeT) had forecast significant improvement in prevailing weather conditions from Wednesday and the weather would remain mostly dry and clear till 4th April.

Deputy Director MeT Srinagar Centre, Mukhtar Ahmad, told Rising Kashmir that there will be a significant improvement in prevailing weather conditions from Wednesday morning onward till 04th April.

“We are expecting dry and clear weather till 4th April. Thereafter, another spell of light rain is expected between 05-07 April and its intensity will be low as compared to this spell. There is no need to panic,” he said.

A meteorological department official said that Srinagar received 3.2mm of rain in 24 hours while mercury settled at 8.6°C. Qazigund received 2.2mm of rain and recorded a low of 6.0°C against 7.4°C on the previous night, he said.

Pahalgam received 6.2mm of rain while mercury settled at 2.3°C against 7.0°C on the earlier night at the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, received 3.6mm of rain and recorded a low of 4.3°C against the previous night’s 10.7°C, the official said.

The minimum temperature settled at 6.0°C in Kupwara against 8.7°C on the previous night, the official said. The north Kashmir district received 5.7mm of rain during the time, he said.

Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of 0.5°C against 1.5°C on the previous night and received 13.6mm of rain. The temperature was 1.3°C above normal for the place during this time of the year, the official added.
