Srinagar: Stormy brief session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will commence here tomorrow as main opposition has geared up to corner the coalition government on different issues.
Resolution of independent MLA Engineer Sheikh Abdul Rashid, seeking mercy to Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, will remain in focus as the PDP has announced to support it while the BJP and NPP decided to oppose it.
The ruling coalition of National Conference (NC) and Congress are yet to open their cards on the issue.
The members had submitted as many as 29 private members resolutions on different issues. However, five were rejected by Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone after they were not found in order.
The other resolutions, including one of Afzal Guru, were put to balloting as per under rules, only 7 private members resolution had to be admitted and moved in the Assembly.
Interestingly, the resolution on Afzal Guru figured among those which will be moved during the session, starting from tomorrow.
The resolution moved by Engineer Rashid was supported by the PDP after the legislature party meeting decided to vote in favour of the resolution seeking mercy to Afzal.
