Chief Minister for shifting to paperless recruitments
SRINAGAR, JUNE 10: Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti today called for shifting to paperless recruitments to ensure time-bound recruitment in a transparent manner.
“We have to make better use of information technology to take the existing system of recruitments to the next level to ensure speed and transparency,” the Chief Minister said while interacting with the visiting members of the Standing Committee of the State Public Service Commissions here today.
Chairman, Union Public Service Commission, Mr Deepak Gupta, Chairman, Himachal Pradesh, Public Service Commission, Mr K S Tomar, who is also the Chairman of the Standing Committee, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr Naveen Kumar Choudhary and Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir, Public Service Commission, Mr Latief-uz-Zaman Deva were also present.
The Standing Committee members comprised the Chairmen and members of the Public Service Commissions of Assam, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Goa and Karnataka were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that the representatives of J&K Public Service Commission should visit their counterparts in other states for exchange of ideas and replication of good practices in recruitments.
Ms Mehbooba also urged the UPSC chairman to set up a coaching centre for the Civil Services aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir as a large number of students from the state have not only started appearing in this prestigious examination, but are also qualifying it in good numbers. “While one of our youth secured second position this earlier, earlier also one of our boys topped the civil services examination,” she said and added that it is heartening to note that despite all odds, J&K’s young boys and girls are now competing with their counterparts from around the country.
Chairman, Union Public Service Commission, Mr Deepak Gupta, informed the forum that this year the number of applicants from J&K has doubled for the Civil Services examination and more and more students are coming forward to sit in this prestigious examination.
J&KPSC chairman, Mr Latief-uz-Zaman Deva briefed the meeting about various initiatives taken by the State’s Public Service Commission to streamline the recruitment process and make it more effective and transparent.
