Srinagar: Mediapersons covering the proceedings of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly were taken for a ride by the officials after they were informed that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will address a press conference.
All the mediapersons were present in the House, waiting for resumption of the proceedings after the House was adjourned for the second time for 15 minutes by Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone.
A message came from the officials that Mr Abdullah will hold a press conference in the Assembly lawns, but after waiting for more than half an hour, the mediapersons came to know that the House proceedings were on and that this was done to prevent them from covering it.
The national television channels have made all arrangements for a live telecast of the conference.
To their surprise after the newspersons entered the House again, the Speaker adjourned the House for the third time till 1300 hrs.
According to some reporters who were present in the House, the Speaker apologised to what had happened in the House during the day.
He has said Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari was his master and what happened in the House, he regret that.
The PDP members stormed into the well and tore some papers before the House was again adjourned till 1300 hrs, they said.
However, later the Chief Minister read out a statement at a news conference where no questions were allowed to be asked.
