Mechanism put in place to deal with flood situation: Naeem Akhtar

JAMMU, MARCH 30(KMW): Minister for Education, Mr. Naeem Akhtar while informing the Legislative Council at 12 noon said that the necessary steps have been taken by Government for dealing with the flood situation which has arisen due to the incessant rains. “3 control rooms have been established in North, South and Central Kashmir, besides 4 lakh sand bags have also been made available to deal with any eventuality”, he added.
Mr. Akhtar further informed the House that the State Government has already spoken to the NDRF and their team would soon be in the valley. Besides, boats have also been requisitioned and day and night vigil is being done on the bunds to monitor the situation.
The Minister further informed the House that the water level has started receding at Sangam and rainfall has also stopped.
