New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), country’s leading car maker, today said it has temporarily halted production at one of its manufacturing facility at Manesar plant in Haryana.
MSIL suspects that workers have been “deliberately tampering with the quality of the cars produced at the plant last week,” company sources said.
The sources said the company has suspended 10 workers and dismissed another five for “sabotaging the production.” The company has asked about 1,600 workers at the Manesar plant to sign a good conduct bond before they can enter the factory premises, it added.
This is the third production stoppage in three months at Manesar.
In June this year, the production has been halted for more than 10 days due to a strike by workers demanding recognition of a new union and reinstatement of some sacked colleagues.
Later in July, MSIL stopped production for a day at the same plant due to a strike by some workers.
