SRINAGAR: The Minister of State for Co-operatives and Industries and Commerce, Dr.Manohar Lal today convened a meeting of various Heads of Co-operative Societies and Banks and reviewed their progress.
The meeting discussed various issues related to the functioning of the societies and measures to improve the performance of these societies in the near future.
The meeting also discussed the allotment of quota of K.oil to societies and its distribution among the customers and maintaining accountability of the dealers.
On this occasion the Minister asked the concerned officers to issue notice to the societies for filing their returns at the earliest, besides submitting database of the societies for the last three years.
Regarding the functional set up of the societies in Kashmir Division, the Minister was informed that the number of Societies has risen to 844. Out of these, 436 have been audited so far while as process to conduct audit of other societies is in progress.
Meanwhile, the Minister was also informed that Co-operative Super Bazar, Srinagar, Kashmir has earned a net profit of Rs. 8.78 lakhs during 2011-12. However, the Minister was informed that the Co-operative Srinagar requires more funds for renovation/repair to develop the Institution on the modern lines, besides purchasing of generator and computers.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner-Secretary Co-operatives, Mr. Abdul Hamid Wani, Registrar Co-operatives, Dr. Syed Mohammad Fazlullah, Additional Registrar, Co-operatives Kashmir, Mr. Mohammad Saleem Sheesgar, Managing Director J&K State Co-operative Bank, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf, Managing Director, J&K SCARDB, Mr. Mohammad Aslam, Managing Director, Central Co-operative Bank, Baramulla, Mr. Bashir Ahmed and other concerned Officers.
Later, many deputations including Poultry Producers and Marketing Federation Kashmir and Employees of Co-Operative Department, besides a number of people from Tangmarg, Baramulla and other areas met the Minister and apprised him about their problems.
The Minister assured them that their genuine demands would be resolved on priority basis. (KMW NEWS)Â
