Krishnanagar, Mar 31 West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday hit the campaign trails for the first time after her injury in mid-March and slammed the BJP’s “propaganda” claiming to winning over 400 seats in the coming General elections.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 16 announced seven-phase polling starting from April 19 to June 1, 2024, barely two days after Banerjee sustained a head injury after falling at her Kalighat home on March 14.
Addressing a rally in support of her party candidate Mahua Moitra, Banerjee, who is also the party Chairperson, dared the BJP to win at least 200 seats and appealed to the people not to fall for promises of the saffron party. She warned the people to ignore the CAA and not to apply for citizenship.
The `Modi Govt Will Put You In Detention Center`: Banerjee warned and advised the Matuas community not to fall into the trap laid by the BJP government.
The TMC has reposed faith in Mahua Moitra and nominated her to contest from the Krishnanagar seat (Nadia) even after the former MP was removed from Parliament for her involvement in cash for query scam. Moitra is facing BJP candidate Rajmata Amrita Roy, who recently joined the saffron brigade.
” I will not allow anyone to snatch your citizenship. Don’t fall for the false assurance of the central government. If you apply, you will be designated as a foreigner for 5 years. They will snatch everything from you and they will keep you in a detention camp. Do you want that or want to live peacefully?” Banerjee told the rally.
“We will not allow CAA and NRC in Bengal,” the Chief Minister said. The TMC supremo also came down heavily on the I N D I A bloc and alleged that the Congress and the CPI(M) have joined hands to conspire against her party in the state.
” We have no alliance in the state and we have the capacity to defeat our rivals even as the CPI(M) and Congress are helping
the BJP,” she reiterated.
