Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee was sworn in as the first woman Chief Minister of West Bengal at Raj Bhawan today.
Governor M K Narayanan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ms Banerjee.At 1255 hours Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh read out the order of the Governor appointing Ms Banerjee as the Chief Minister of West Bengal and invited her to the dais.A beaming Ms Banerjee, clad in her trademark white sari, climbed the dais with folded hands as a huge gathering greeted her to which she reciprocated.The Secretary to the Governor then handed over the forms of oath of office and secrecy to Ms Banerjee.Ms Banerjee took the oath in Bengali.
