Despite designated stands, they pick up passengers arbitrarily, disrupting traffic and pedestrian movement. This behavior is particularly problematic on Exchange Road, a security-sensitive area.

As a matter of fact, due to this the situation is dire, with massive traffic congestion and disruption of vehicle and pedestrian flow on Exchange Road and Veterinary Road. Pedestrians face immense difficulties navigating the area due to sudden stops and starts, putting lives at risk. Local shopkeepers are suffering significant losses due to congestion and disorderly parking, with many finding it challenging to run their businesses.

“We are finding it challenging to run our businesses due to the chaos caused by these Sumo drivers,” said a local shopkeeper. “We urge the authorities to take immediate action to restore order and sanity to the area.” Authorities are being requested to enforce designated pick-up and drop-off points for Sumos, reduce congestion and chaos, and impose penalties on errant drivers, including fines and suspension of licenses.
