Srinagar, 02 Dec: Local dailies from Jammu and Kashmir have appealed to the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) to ensure long overdue payments for non-budget (NB) advertisements pending with various government departments.
Persons associated with various dailies in Jammu and Kashmir said that the payments for the published non-budgeted advertisements issued by DIPR have been pending with various offices for years, which has created a massive financial problem for the newspapers.
They said that every month we pay GST on these advertisements but in reality no payment is released by the offices. They said that apart from GST, we also have to bear the cost of sending bills to each department.
They appealed to the LG administration, especially the esteemed director Minga Sherpa, to look into the matter to ensure the release of payments from various departments.
Meanwhile, they also alleged that some departments are placing advertisements in certain newspapers without bridging them through the DIPR, which is totally illegal.
