Srinagar, Feb 11 (News agency) Life remained affected for the third day today in the Kashmir valley due to general strike, called by separatist organisations as on this day in 1984 Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat was hanged and buried in Delhi’s Tihar jail.
On February 9, life was crippled due to strike on second death anniversary of Mohammad Afzal Guru, who was hanged and buried in Tihar jail for his involvement in Parliament attack case. However, yesterday general strike was observed against the death of a teenager in security force firing at Palhalan Pattan on February 9 evening.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads in the restriction free areas in the summer capital, Srinagar and adjoining areas. However, some private vehicles were plying in the civil line and uptown as security forces have closed some roads with barbed wire.
